The Great Orme

A limestone headland on the North coast of Wales, with stunning views from the summit it is home to the famous Llandudno goats! At the summit complex you will find a cafe and bar with refreshments, gift shop and public toilets, and a mini golf course. There are many walking routes around the Great Orme or for a small fee you can take the car on a costal drive all the way around.

The Great Orme Tramway

Situated 0.2 miles from the hotel, approximately a 5-10minute walk, the Tramway is Britain’s only funicular, or cable- hauled, tramway that travels on public roads to the summit of the Great Orme. The tram stops halfway up where you can get off and explore the Great Orme Copper mines which are thought to be the largest known Bronze Age copper mines in the world. This is a much more leisurely mode of transport to the summit of the Great Orme.

HAPPY VALLEY LLANDUDNO

Only a 5 minute walk from the hotel Happy Valley park is an ideal place for a picnic overlooking the sea, and just off the east side of the Great Orme. Here you will find beautifully landscaped gardens with a refreshment pavilion and public toilets. Look out for references to Alice in Wonderland throughout the park.

SKI CENTRE & TOBOGGAN RUN

Located at the top of Happy Valley Park and accessible by foot and car it offers an artificial ski and boarding slope, a toboggan run, and tubing. It is open year round.

PUNCH & JUDY

Throughout the summer why not catch the famous Punch and Judy shows, and directly opposite the hotel by the pier! From 1860 – 1863 the show performed within the town of Llandudno but in 1864 gained approval from Lord Mostyn to perform on Llandudno Promenade and has done every summer season for over 150 years! The show is now in the care of the 5th generation of the Codman family.

THE PIER

The Grade II listed Pier is the longest in Wales and the 5th longest in England and Wales combined! Its entrance is located directly opposite the hotel and offers a variety of shops and stalls and is home to the arcade centre. Throughout the main season it is open until 10pm weather permitting and has a bar and cafe once you reach the end with great views of the bay.

VENUE CYMRU

This is a theatre and conference venue which is situated around a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel (0.7 miles) All year round it offers many west end touring shows and local theatre shows.

BODAFON FARM

Where the countryside meets the sea, this is a genuine working farm and is home to the owls trust. Open 7 days a week and is a great day out for the family. You can take a stroll around their large owl collection and even hand feed their goats, deer and Llama. Throughout the summer they offer many additional attractions and there is a bar and restaurant onsite so you can make a day of it! Located 1.2 miles away from the hotel a 25 minute walk along the promenade.

LITTLE ORME

The little Orme is 141 meters in height and is the smaller headland situated at the far end of Llandudno bay. You can walk along the main promenade to access the walking routes around it. Whilst not as popular as the Great Orme it is well worth a visit with wonderful views over Penrhyn Bay and home to Angel Bay which is an excellent position to do some seal spotting!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND TRAIL

The town trail, map and souvenir guide is available to purchase from the tourist information centre. It allows you to explore Llandudno whilst discovering the connections to Alice Liddel (the real Alice in Wonderland) who lived in the resort in the 1860’s and stayed with us here at The Wildings Hotel on her holidays!
