ABOUT US
Ian took over The Wildings Hotel In December 2018 and in 2021 incorporated the St Tudno Hotel into The Wildings, by joining the two buildings together with a walkway between them. The Wildings is a privately owned, family run business, and has been owned by many families, who have all loved and cared for this beautiful hotel over the years, originally being named The Wildings Hotel after the very first family to own the building. We welcome everyone including families with children, as well as your four legged friends. Please note there are only certain areas that dogs are allowed inside the hotel, however they are of course welcome on all areas of the outdoor terrace if you are eating or drinking with us.
A TASTE OF HISTORY
DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE A UNIQUE LINK WITH ALICE IN WONDERLAND?
The hotel has a unique history, with links to the Alice in Wonderland book, that can no longer be found anywhere else in Llandudno. Llandudno was the holiday destination of the real Alice in Wonderland, Alice Liddell. She was the girl who inspired Lewis Carroll’s worldwide famous story. There are wooden figures of some of the characters dotted all over the town to celebrate this connection. The Wildings Hotel’s link with the books began when Alice Liddell, stayed in Llandudno in 1861. The census that year shows the Liddell family, along with Alice aged 8, residing here at The Wildings Hotel. Back then the hotel was known as ‘Tudno Villa’ and then became St Tudno Hotel before being renamed The Wildings Hotel in 2021. We are now the only remaining Llandudno property with such an illustrious connection. Lewis Carroll went on to publish his book about Alice in 1865, it is believed that it was Alice’s adventures whilst on holiday in Llandudno, that influenced him. You can learn more about Llandudno’s connections to the book by walking the Alice Town Trails with the mobile App!
